San Pedro Central Elementary School - HISTORY

The San Pedro Central Elementary School came to exist on the year 1952, during the political reign of the late Hon. Benjamen P. Arao . It is geographically rounded by Barangay Santiago on the south and Barangay Kawit on the north. It has a land area of 14,695 square meters or 1.47 hectares. The school gradually developed with the joint efforts of the past administrators, PTA and barangay officials, teachers and the community, the school flourished into a better and more conducive institution of learning for the school children in the locality. The school population ranges from 1,500 to 1,700 pupils. There are fourteen (14) school building that are actually existing with thirty-eight (38) classrooms, thirty five (35) of which are being occupied as classrooms. Along the sides, back and front part of these buildings are full grown trees planted by previous and presently stationed teachers. The once, watered surface, swampy area school ground have been developed into a wide and ideal school ground for the children to play on. With the PTA officers’ efforts and initiatives, as a visible project of the association, the school now boasted of its Mini-Gym where activities are held with comfort from the rain and heat of the sun. The school premises are now being landscaped and flowers are thrive around the campus. The teaching force at present are 45. 39 are females and 6 are male teachers who are all versatile and competent in their field. There are 1 School Principal – III, 1 Master Teacher – II, 4 Master Teacher I, 24 Teacher III, 6 Teacher II, and 6 Teacher – I , 2 Disbursing Officer and 1 Administrative Officer. People in the barangay of San Pedro survive for existence as fishermen, laborers and government employees. It is also a Christian community with approximately 95% Christians and 5% Muslims.
